New Forest Hotels
I wrote about this hotel a while back but it’s worthy of another mention. Having been a regular visitor to the New Forest for many years, I know most of the luxury hotels in the area. Most would regard themselves as luxury country house hotels but there’s little to differentiate between them. They all seem to fit the stereotype of the country house hotel and so many Hampshire folk have been delighted with the arrival of Hotel TerraVina, a luxury boutique hotel, owned and managed by Gerard Basset, who was co-founder of Hotel du Vin, and his wife Nina. In my opinion, Hotel TerraVina sets a new standard for New Forest hotels and, as though to prove it, has picked up a clutch of impressive awards and press mention since opening a little over a year ago. For instance, ‘One of Britain’s Top Ten Hotels for 2009‘, ‘one of the best new places to stay in the world‘, ‘Small Hotelof the Year in the South East of England‘ and, according to The Times, a restaurant were you can ‘Eat out in James Bond style‘.
